Winning financial security following a fall from height
Our client Kathy Emery is a warm and outgoing lady who suffered a fall from height accident at work that changed her life.
Kathy was replacing stock and putting items back in warehouse shelving from the shop floor. While she was coming back down a ladder after stacking stock, the sensor-controlled warehouse lighting suddenly went out when it should have stayed on. Kathy missed her footing on the ladder and fell, injuring her shoulder.
At first her GP thought she had just pulled a muscle, but after a few months she was still in pain and an ultrasound examination suggested a deeper seated problem. An MRI scan confirmed that Kathy had torn the rotator cuff (the group of muscles and tendons that stabilise the shoulder) in her left arm. This very painful condition severely restricts movement and has left Kathy with a 30% disability in her left arm.
Kathy had been an active and outgoing person, working with the local church and frequently doing flower arrangements for weddings. Her fall from height injuries meant she couldn't do the same for her own daughter's wedding.
Kathy sought our legal advice since it was obvious she couldn't work and didn't want the worry of how to pay bills or getting into debt. The award of £70,000 gave her peace of mind and confidence in the future.
