Shoosmiths helped Nicola Cooper recover a substantial pay-out when she suffered a serious brain injury following a minor car accident.

Nicola suffered a brain injury after a seemingly minor car accident eight years ago. There were no obvious immediate signs to show that she had suffered severe brain damage and at first her only symptoms were those of a whiplash-type injury. Her symptoms progressively became apparent and she rebuilt her life with the help of her family, friends and Shoosmiths.

The ease with which brain injuries can occur and their impact not just on the individual, but the entire family is often underestimated. Nicola's story shows how important it is to get properly checked out after suffering an accident, no matter how minor you may perceive it to be.

Rose Donoghue was Head of the Personal Injury Department at Shoosmiths and had over 28 years of experience acting for individuals who had sustained serious injuries before her retirement.  During her legal career she helped many people with brain injury (including Nicola) and many of the people who worked with her are still part of the Shoosmiths team. Our serious injury team at Shoosmiths has represented many clients who have suffered a brain injury and helped them to get compensation and access early treatment and rehabilitation so they can recover as quickly as possible. If you or a loved one have suffered as a result of an accident or have a query about brain injury, we can help.
