Sharine Burgess

Sharine has almost 20 years of experience handling a wide range of complex high value claims involving brain injury, significant psychiatric illness, occupational stress, military claims, sexual abuse, industrial disease and clinical negligence claims. She acts exclusively for claimants.

Sharine likes to work with clients with complex conditions, often in very challenging circumstances. She fights to ensure her clients are treated with dignity and respect, and each client’s unique requirements are supported fully throughout the legal process. This approach has enhanced her reputation amongst her peers (other solicitors, counsel, experts) and other professionals and charities, who trust her enough to refer cases to her.

Sharine is well known in the local legal community being President of Northamptonshire Law Society for two successive terms from 2019 to 2021 and she continues to serve as a council member. Sharine’s excellence in her field was recognised by the Society when she was awarded Solicitor of the Year in 2017.

Sharine has been an accredited member of The Law Society Personal Injury Panel since 2005. She is a longstanding member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers and an APIL accredited litigator.

Sharine works closely with local charities including Headway East Northampton and the Acquired Brain Injury Forum Northants (ABIF Northants). She is on the management committee for ABIF Northants and works closely with local brain injury professionals to support those with acquired brain injuries.

A strong advocate of corporate responsibility, Sharine is a Pro Bono Champion. She has worked on many projects including setting up an award-winning pro bono clinic with local partners CAB and University which she ran for 7 years.

It is not surprising that Sharine is ranked in the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners. Chambers & Partners describes her as ‘adept at supporting clients across the spectrum of personal injury claims... with excellent attention to detail and client management skills’.

Sharine acted for Mrs Wilson whose father died of mesothelioma through exposure to asbestos in his work as a carpenter. Mrs Wilson said “The whole experience for me and my family was exceptional. Sharine Burgess was so easy to talk to, kept us updated regularly with what was happening”.

She acted for Mr Moore who suffered work related upper limb disorder causing permanent disability as a result of his work as an administrator. He said “Sharine has dealt with my claim with total professionalism, knowledge and understanding.  Sharine kept me constantly updated with all aspects of the claim and was able to ensure that all elements of the claim remained on course despite the many complexities liaising with all parties with the utmost efficiency and ensuring appropriate and concise communication was provided at all times. The confidence that I had in Sharine helped me a great deal personally throughout the duration of my claim and Sharine proved herself to be a highly capable, patient and effective legal representative for which I am incredibly grateful”.
